Wow, I feel stupid

Just tried to change my fuel filter on my 85 Delta 88 and I couldn't budge it.

I did the two wrench thing with a 1 inch close to the carb and a 5/8 on the fuel line at the base of the fuel fiter housing and all I started to do was round off the nut.

While holding the the 1 inch close to the carb, which way do I turn that nut? Towards the pass side or the driver's side? I thought it was towards the pass side which is to the right if you are facing the front of the car

I did this before with no problem on my old one, but I can't remember which way the nut gets turned

Looking at the nut from in front of the car...righty tighty, lefty loosey. So you want to turn the 5/8 nut counter clockwise. If you are using an open end wrench on that nut, get yourself a Line Wrench or Flare Nut Wrench so you don't round it.

I got tired of fighting with them and got a nut splitter with an open side, put that on the filter fitting and crack it then it comes apart real easy.

I took a ride over to Harbor Freight and picked up a set of Flare nut wrenches. They had a torque wrench on sale that I wanted anyway

Going to try again on Friday or Saturday, pending on time. Supposed to rain all day tomorrow

No kidding, we got "WINDED" on really bad tonight...not a single drop. Rain must have a "No Fly Area" around our neighborhood. Going on 30 days of 100+ degrees in Houston.
