What price could i get from a Ok 307?

Have a guy that is intrested in my old 307, stock, and with 5A heads, dont know how many miles, the engine dont use Oil or water, just swetting a little from intake gasket, and rear seal probably, no problem with the engine at all.. the timingchain feels tight in nice, follow with exhaust manifolds and Cross over pipe,, somethines its poff in the carb, could it be that the camshaft is bad on some of the valve? Sounds like the lifter slips on the cam.

Engine without carb and waterpump..

Any Ideas?

I'm not really familiar with what your market is.

If it runs good with no major issues and someone needed one it might get $5-600 here in the US. If it was the 442or HO version it might bring more. Most people replace the 307 w a 350 or 455.

Your market may vary

$500-600 seems extremely generous. I would say more like $200 tops and even then you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'd actually want it.

Not sure how is it in Norway, I am sure they are not as common as here in US, but I have to agree with DoubleV.

My experience

My experience with the 307 is to pull the intake if it is aluminum and sell the rest for scrapage weight. I've never seen anyone pay more than $100 for a 307.

I agree that this wouldn't be worth too much here, but in Norway it might have a higher value. Here, you'd look for and find or build whatever motor you want. There, it could mean the difference between some Olds guy having his car on the road or not. It may not be worth $500, but I would also err on the side of not junking it if it runs.

When I pulled the 307 from my 86 I could not find a buyer for $200, I ended up giving it away.

Good Luck

Ok thanks, i yeah i will not just throw it away either, it could be ok to have an extra engine too, if some terrible should happend with the new engine i will use soon. I can always make some storage space for it if so.

Is it right that the 5A heads are the best sbo heads?
It have stock Iron intake too.

When im looking at the marked here i have only see some few other 307 and not bigger engine..so looks like the market is a little low at the time.

Keep it unless someone is willing to pay a good amount for it. As said 307's aren't worth much here. The 5A heads are the best 307 heads and aren't crack prone like 3A heads. Of the 77 and up heads, they are the best but that doesn't say much.

I was going to suggest you keep it. Even if you got 2x max U.S value for that 307 you're talking 400-600 dollars. Could you reasonably acquire an oldsmobile v8 for that sum? If not I say keep it and have a back up.
