What do you guys get from Mondello vs regular parts/ stores

Hey guys, going to build a 350 sometime I think. I was looking at stuff from Mondellos. they have pistons that are 25% lighter than commonly made, and adjustable rocker systems etc. What sorts of things should be regular old stuff and what specialty things worth spending bucks on. Thanks Jackson

I assume the Mondello pistons are rebadged DSS or Mahle forged pistons. Very few buy from Mondello Performance Products due to them screwing over many people. I get most of my parts from Mark Remmel(Cutlassefi) who actually worked with the manufacturers to bring new Mahle pistons and Molnar rods to the market for the Olds 350. These days you go with a supplier you trust and actually has parts in stock.

Be aware that Mondello doesn’t make parts, and has very few items that aren’t available from other sources. They are mostly a reseller of parts from various manufacturers.

Adjustable valve train is available from Harlan Sharp and Comp Cams.

Pistons are available from various manufacturers as noted above. Same thing for camshafts.

It matters which Mondello you buy from. The Paso Robles California group is a no-no.

Nothing should be purchased from here https://mondelloperformance.com/

This company s ran by Bernard Mondello (Joe's son), and a good source for Olds parts https://bernardmondelloracing.com/

Do a thread search on "Mondello" if you want to know why so many people are warning you against the Paso Robles shop. Lynn Wellfringer is not a good guy and many members have had bad experiences with him.

When it comes to Olds parts Bernard Mondello is my first choice.

X2. Avoid them like the plague. I have not actually done business with Bernard Mondello but I would trust him from seeing others I know that use him. I personally use Mark Remmel here on the forum. He is actively helping people here on the forum out of his incredible experience and don't cost a thing. That is worth my business. Just know what you want to accomplish with your build and contact him. He will make it happen.

Mondello (classic) = No Fn way. Disgraces a revered name among Olds enthusiasts

Bernard Mondello = Absolutely, from the first family of Olds, well regarded

Mark Remmel (Cutlassefi) = Absolutely, the guy doing the most for the general Olds community and well regarded

BTR (Bill Travato) = Absolutely, if you’re anywhere near upstate NY, well regarded
