Weight of engine

Just wondering what a bare 350 block weighs, and individual heads? From a '72 350 for example.

I need to get a dolly or service cart to move these big parts around, and wondering on the weight. tx

Just by feel, I'm betting about 40 pounds per head and about 150 for the bare block.
I'm not a big guy, but I can get the block off the ground if I really want to (though my back would have something to say the next day).

Not too much individually, but DON'T try to lift them all at once .

40 per head seems low. My Ford 4-banger head weighed 75. Was fun pulling that off by myself...

I weighted my 425 4-barrel intake and it came in at 78 lbs.

OUCH!

You can easily use a hand cart or a buddy to move the parts.

Good Luck!

Yep, Don's about right. When I got mine they were 65 lb's each with all the packaging, so about 60-62 each without would probably be a good estimate.

A standard dolly with a set of straps, or an extended base should do for the basics. Once it's together a more fancy cart might be in order.

A bare iron cylinder head is always around 55-56lbs when packaged for shipping.A 350 block is in the 200lb range.I can lift one to put it in my truck bed.The 455's are heavier, and if I lift those,I'm done for the rest of the day.
My NOS DX block is the heaviest block I have right now, with it's small, raw bores.
Any typical dolly will work.

It depends on the year of the block. I have personally weighed both a bare 403 (windowed main SBO) and a bare 455 (solid main BBO) on the finest Chinesium bathroom scale that Wal-Mart sells. Both had all main caps installed, by the way. The 403 was 170 lbs. The 455 was 200 lbs. Your 350 will be somewhere in that range.
