verify valve timing/intake leak

Hey everyone: '71 350 w 4 bl, mild cam less than 2k on rebuild. Car had been in storage 16 years. Took it out, had to replace entire fuel system, head gaskets and recently installed pertronics electronic ign system, Every since took car out from storage and got it running... At idle hg @ idle 15lbs, will go to 19-20 @ cruise. The car runs like poop, no power- this thing used to roast the tires! I think it may be an intake leak, or valve timing. How do I verify either?

intake leak is simple enough, spray carb cleaner along the gasket where the manifold meets the heads. i doubt that your cam timing has changed as it is contolled by the timing set, with only 2k miles on it i can't imagine that is has much wear...

Check the advance weights in the distributor , they might be stuck.

Propane will also identify leakage around the carb gaskets. We used to use it as fuel enrichment during tune ups and leak tester around the base of carbs as its heavier than air and will settle in to the low spots. X2 on the distributor weights.
