Starter swap

Someone tell me there's an easier way to remove the starter than to unbolt the transmission. 1969 Cutlass 350 Hurst 3 speed. There is not enough room to remove it.

If you don't have headers there is no reason to take anything except the starter off.

I may be wrong but it looks like that shield cannot be removed prior to the starter.

If you unbolt the shield, the starter and shield drop straight down together.

Ah, ok. I've never done a starter on a ratchet shift Olds.
