RPM manifold and factory OAI?
I have used RPM & presently have Street Dom on the blue car w/ OAI. It takes a bit of work, trial & error but I did get it to fit. First off I suggest acquiring a standard 4 barrel air cleaner or maybe repop OAI base so you don't risk screwing up a genuine OAI base if that is what you have.
You have to raise the carb flange hole effectively lowering the base in relation to the hood & carb. I did this with some rubber mallet action & some mush/pushing - brace the base on a 6x6 or suitable pedestal & push down on OD (think pushing down a hoop over a barrel) or administering CPR, sort of. Keep checking square, carb clearance @ linkage, acc pump, etc and hood. I can't remember if I had to massage any grooves for carb "protrusions."
Check w/ OAI top (No Foam), IF/once you are in the ballpark you can put some "soft clearance checkers" like putty, playdough, etc to check clearance to hood & foam height. Put a dab of grease on tips so it doesn't stick to hood + it leaves a mark where it touches. My foam seal is appx 1/2 height of BBO foam but lots of variables in this endeavor.

I will have this problem eventually as well and I was wondering if buying a 2" drop base, then cutting out the bottom of the original air cleaner base, and welding in the 2" drop base would work?
