pulley bolt pattern

Ok so just a simple question. What other brand chevy/fords /amc etc balancer pulley bolt pattern is the same. I like those cogs belt style drive pulleys but no one makes em for olds. The alt is the same on all gm's and same for the water pump as far as I know . I'm kind of thinking of either modfying my own by drilling the correct pattern by establishing true center on the pulley but if there is another brand that has the same bolt pattern than that would work or so I think it would. Its a crazy idea but its something I have been wanting to do for a while.

Pretty sure there is nothing common for the balancer. Chevy uses a three bolt pattern.

We'll the cogs belt pulleys are aluminum I will have to make a centering plug then make my olds pattern bolt holes. I will probably use a chevy pulley since it has 3 holes only and will alow me to have more space. Its my mission now to make it work they look pretty cool and sound like a blower. And I won't have to worry about tossing belts

The "centering plug" or whatever is important, since the pulley is hub-centric, not bolt-centric. The bolt holes aren't that critical, but the center bore is. I believe Chevy balancers have a smaller centering boss than Olds, so you can probably just machine the center bore larger on a lathe. You might need to TIG the Chevy bolt holes and drill new ones. Of course, the other problem is proper pulley offset for alignment.

It thought about all that. I need to get my hands on a set and I'm making my bolt holes off the centering plug then the bore the hub to fit the olds balancer. My friend has a lathe so I'm probably going to make a fixture and measure run out and once its square just cut the id. Then I think the pulley alignment won't be too bad but againt this wil all be experimental should be fun. The kit from pro comp is 170. I gotta do a little research on which chevy water pump pulley is close to the olds pulley. They have the kit for a bbc , sbc w\ lwp and swp. So gotta get the one that's closest in distance.

I known that some guys that do the olds serp. belt conversion use the crank pulley from a small block ford.

Some of the aftermarket race dampers use the Chevy pattern.

I got stock units so I have to make it work with that. I though about the blancer since they advertise chevy bolt pattern but it seems like a more expensive approach .

There is a flaw in your plan. If someone pulls up next to you, thinks you DO have a blower and still wants a piece of you, your azz is in trouble!!

LOL I thought about that too but everyone who wanted a piece of me couldn't keep up. there is some fast street cars around here but I can usually keep up. I don't mess around the streets as much as I used too but I put the spankin on plenty of cars when it was a low 13 sec car. Not all boosted cars are fast I have a friend with a 80's monte carlo ss and a 383 running in the 12's with one of the single carb weiand blowers its a fast cruiser he has driven it all over the us. for shows like the woodward dream cruise etc.

this is the cheapest kit I found on ebay.

Im sure I will need a different belt or maybe not idk but for the price I think its well worth it and maybe I can modify them for other guys for a small fee. I think its worth I keep tossing belts and im sick and tired of fiddling with my pulley set up which is out of what since my heads and intake have been milled its very hard to get every thing lined up . The only time I did not toss belts was when I had aluminum under drive pulleys with deep grooves but I think it slowed my h20 pump too much.

Also does anyone know the pump lengths between sbc lwp/swp and a bbc water pump ?
