Proper ring gap for new rings?

Is .014 to .016 ok for new Plasma Moly rings with a 3.5 bore? That is tighter than the 1963 book says but is ok according to Hastings. I assume that is the difference between old cast rings verses new stuff?

If they’re Hastings rings and they conform with their guidelines, then that’s what I’d go with.

This is how I feel about it but always nervous when specs are not the same as the book. I just have to keep reminding myself that it is now 60 years later and some parts are like like the originals, lol. Thank you
