pistons

I am wondering what the differance is in a 1970 350 buick, and oldsmobile piston is. If i recall the buick piston had a nut in the center of it. It was a 4 bl. had dished piston's.made a lot of power! Is it because the buick heads had more of a closed chamber? I dont know what the comp.was. I think the dist was in the front! Long time ago.

Not remotely the same and in my opinion the Olds is a better performing engine.

Buick 350 has a 3.800 in bore, I am not sure what size valves. I have done a set or 2 of these, but they have issues with cracking the cylinder heads on the top side of the head (valve cover side).
Olds 350 has a 4.057 bore with a 1.875 intake, or a 1.995 intake valve.
The piston was nut free, the nut was behind the wheel.

I didnt build the thing! It had been into before I got it. The head did crack, We took it off to ck it.Three people saw the pistons. No drugs or drunking. I havent seen anything like it since.I have worked on farm tractors in the past, seen some crazy things! I am getting flat tops for the 350. Dont want to race, just get the spot I want when on the highway. No offence taken on the nut statment.

It's not a nut but a large button used to locate the piston during grinding. They are cast pistons, don't think Buick used anything but that piston.

True most Oldsmobile owners are a nut behind the wheel, why else would we do this?
