Pistons
Pistons
Trying to follow the clues as to what the PO did when he rebuilt my 350. I've tried to attach the receipt showing the parts. The date was 1998. I put an inspection camera in one of the cylinders today and saw the piston had deep valve reliefs. The set of 8 pistons was only $149! Does that sound right since it was almost 20 years ago? The car had over 100k at rebuild. Is it safe to assume these pistons would have been .30 over? Also assuming with this style piston I've got something better than the stock 8.5:1 compression now. Also attached a pic of what the piston seemed to look like.

Most Olds pistons are dished or flat top. Only the better forged pistons for the Olds 350 have small valve reliefs. I would assume the generic 204/214 cam was used as the HP cam kit.

Ha! Yeah, the guy owned an Ace Hrdw. The car runs very good. So these type of deep valve relief pistons weren't used at all on the Olds 350? Also for you engine builders: how much, what kind of machine shop work would be done for $900? Remember that was 20 years ago.
