Olds 350 Rebuild / Newbie

Hello,

I have an 85 Buick Lesabre with Olds 307 and 2004R. I just purchased a 350 and TH350 transmission from a 72 Cutlass with #7 heads. The motor needs to be rebuilt, runs great but has little tick and smokes. I'm not wanting a racecar just something with a little more pep and lope at idle. Any build sheets I could go off of? Also I would like to keep my OD so will the 2004R hold up to the 350 or should I go ahead and throw in the TH350.

Thanks in advance

Look the Mahle 10cc pistons, Cutlassefi has a good price on them. You will get mid 9 to 1 for compression with them. The DSS 12cc dish pistons are also an option. A basic rebuild with a mild cam upgrade should easily meet your goals but is not cheap. On the 2004R, check the stator spline condition, add the big Transgo shift kit with the servo and maybe a deep pan with a bottom feed filter should be adequate. Checking line pressure after the install is good idea, you want to see 200+ psi. The factory D9 converters stall around 1900 rpm, you may want to upgrade that as well.
