Minimum:

Full Disassembly
Magnaflux block and heads, crank, rods
Full block bake and cleaning

Check: Decks, Bores, crank pins, rod inner diameters - machine as required

Check: Heads for flatness, valve guides, valve job

I always use new pistons, rings, cam bearings, freeze plugs, timing chain, rod/main bearings, gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, oil pump/pick up.

A stock rebuild will run you approximately $4,000....more if you get high performance parts.

Unless you care primarily about gas mileage, I'd lose the SP2P intake and get something else. That manifold design was brought out in the mid-1970s during the dark days of the gas crisis and was never intended to be a performance intake.

What is your budget and expected end result? Is it going back relatively stock, performance, etc?

X2, there are some Olds 260 guys looking for them. That is the only motor where performance improves all around with that intake. I had one on an Olds 350, part throttle was amazing, full throttle sucked as the Qjet was too big for that intake. It worked well with a stock GM TBI which flows maybe 500 cfm and probably the limit for that intake.

what I see and should replace.... well.......... depends on what your goals are. I have had a 307 in my 72 cutlass that was really fun for a cruiser engine with the right parts on a stock long block. The my last engine was a pump gas 355 that powered my 72 cutlass into the low 12's the 307 was just as fun as the 355 on the street. I'm a track rat so I'm not happy until I see numbers ., on the street I'm happy with whatever .

You have the crappiest 350, 77 to 80, still better than a 260 or 307. Make sure the heads are crack free, I believe the exhaust ports crack on those 3A heads. The exhaust port is poor flowing as well. I would do flat top pistons with those heads, would put it just over 9 to 1. Get a Performer or RPM intake and a mild cam, quality timing set, degree the cam, new bearings and any machine work necessary.
