Olds 350 back together in 72 Cutlass S

Well, it's been 2 years since I started removing the original block and refreshing it. I learned a lot along the way and couldn't have done it without my Dad, friends, and my new found mechanic to finish it up. Here's what it has, along with before and after.

Olds 350 bored .030 over to 355 cubic inches
5.8 cc dish forged Speed Pro 2264P
.010/.010 crank
Erson TQ40H cam
Original 64 cc heads machined with 3 angle valve job
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Melling oil pump
Cloyes timing set
HEI distributor
Factory replacement water pump and fuel pump
Pro Tork mini starter
Long tube headers
Magnaflow dual exhaust
Holley 600 carb
TH350 rebuilt with Trans Go shift kit
Torque converter with 2200-2500 stall

I just got it back earlier this week, so I am still babying it. It seems to run good.

BJ, good question. I hope to get it on a dyno later this year. I am curious to see what it puts out.

I haven't given it much throttle yet . Still breaking it in and the weather has been rainy. It pulls hard and responds from what I have seen so far. I can tell it wants to go!

Sounds like a mellow cam should be a nice cruiser.

Don't baby it and don't idle it anymore than absolutely necessary. Rings need cylinder pressure to seat. The more load you put on it the better they will seat and the longer that will last. Idling new rings just glazes the cylinder walls and actually prolongs the proper seating of the rings.

Alex, here is a link to the Trans Go Shift Kit. I ordered it from Summit Racing.

Smitty and 70... thanks for the advice. Good to know I can really drive it now.

Copper, I need practice in the burnout department, so I'd better get to work.
