ol4b carb recommendations

okay so i scored an edelbrock ol4b intake that had a crack in the usual heat riser area...well its fixed and you cant even tell it was cracked...anyways i just blew up my big block on the dyno and i have to go with plan "b" and redo the small block. my question is what is the recommended 4bbl carb to top this vintage intake with??

Well if the intake is a spred bore I would put a Q-jet 650 cfm on it. I know they look scary and complicated but they work great and have about the best throtle response of any carb out there. If its a square bore go edelbrock or Carter AFB. If it has an exhaust crossover get the plugs for it from summit.

quadrajunk...

im staying away from quadrajunks...i hate them...i wanna say its a sqarebore and im looking at throwing a 750 double pump holly or a 750 squareflange edelbrock on it...not sure...as far as that exaust crossover(heat riser)...thats where the ol4b intakes like to crack and i had mine professionaly done and you cant even tell it was cracked...i mean if they can trust my step dad to weld things for f-22 raptors and the space shuttle then i guess trusting him with my 30 year old vintage intake was a no brainer...oh well...back to wrenchin on the hot rod thanks fer da advice.

Dont forget the crossover block outs they rattle a little bit but they save the manifold and you dont have to weld up the crossover in the heads.
