Oil Dummy Light - Engine Shut Off

This may be a dumb question but I’d rather ask than not be sure. During engine shut off, is it normal operation for the oil dummy light to illuminate for a second or two and then go off? It’s the only time it illuminates aside from initial startup when turning key into ignition mode. Oil levels are good, filter intact, no leaks and pump is newer unit replaced during engine rebuild 2 years ago. I believe I’ve noticed this in the past but never thought about it but I didn’t have an explanation for it so I’m asking for education.

As the engine shuts down , the RPM drops below the amount needed for the oil pump to provide enough pressure to keep the light from illuminating .
Perfectly normal operation .

But if the ignition switch is in the off position the light should not have power going to it ? I wonder if it is getting some feedback through the charging circuit or somewhere ?

What year and model vehicle ? Would like to look at a wiring diagram.

It’s a ‘70 Cutlass Supreme 350. I will have to pay more attention to it the next time I shut it down but it may just be lighting when the key goes from run to ‘acc’ just prior to going to off position before removing the key. In either event it’s only on momentarily.

Well the ACCY position is behind the OFF position, as in the positions from one end to the other are START, RUN, OFF, ACCY.

My mistake. Then it would be when the key travels from run to off.
