Ok, let me give it a try
With the hood up the black piece going from your fender to fender is your core support. The top black radiator hose is going to your blue intake. Look below it on a flat shelf right behind the fan. It could be a little dirty, but it's lower than where you're look'in.

Its on the side of the head near the spark plug it will be at the front on the drivers side head and the back on the passenger side. It is a large number about the size of a quarter. It will normally be just 1 number like a 6 which is correct for a '70 but it could be a number and a smaller letter like 7A.
also ok while i look for that, underneather the engine, where its not blue, behind the Alternator it has more numbers:
and it has big letter and says 1981.... or at least thats what it looks like. Couldnt get a better picture since there is stuff in the way
Edit: JamesBo told me the answer : Exhaust Manifold

She's got it figgered out. The car has a digital dash w/ miles per hour, rpm, H2O temp etc. but no odometer.
She's gonna post the cowl tag to find out what was origional paint, trim etc.
I think she told me 6 heads

Here is the Cowl Tag thread: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...p-reading.html
If a mechanic can't tell a 70's Olds. motor from a Chevy motor(of any series/mark), they need to stop what thery're doing and get somemore education/training.

I love your car! Good to see you are willing to learn. I have just found this site and love it. Oh I hate your wheels, some Cragar 5 spokes would look excellent on it and you should be able to get quite a bit of cash from selling the old ones. I have an Olds 350 in my "42 Chevy and it is quite powerful even basically stock.
Look on the drivers-side of the engine block(front),just below the deck/head mounting surface. There should be a small(3/8" X 1"), raised boss, on it is stamped a series of numbers identifying the engines original application(year/model/series). Its difficult to see and even harder to read, there maybe brackets/etc. blocking your view. You may need to clean it off and use a mirror/flashlight to read it. Also on the oil fill tube is a series of numbers, they maybe stamped on the back-side of the tube facing the engine-block so you may need a mirror/flashlight to read them. The numbers are about 3/8" high and start with the last number of the year manufactured, so 24321XXX would be built in 1972. If you see the letter "O" keep in mind its not a letter but the number "0".
Incorrect. Only Chevorlet engines of that era are designated as small-blocks. Fords have engine famlies 335, etc. Mopars(Chrysler), have series LA, B and RB(raised blocks), etc. GM's have groups amoung the various divisions. Pontiac 326 thru 455, Buick(wet manifold), 350-455. And Oldsmobile 330-455. Nowhere did GM refer to its Oldsmobile engines as big or small blocks. So when you're talking about 60's-70's engines and you say "small-block", you are refering to(unknowingly or not), Chevy 265-400 engines.

There is a 1970 Olds. Rocket 350(4 bbl.) sitting at Pick-n-Pull in Lyon County, NV(Carson City). Someone installed it in a 1979 Cadalac Seville(Nova based). I guess they pulled the Olds. 350 diesel motor out of it somewhere along the line. Most of the bolt-on parts are there, no carb. dont know about the over-all condition, but I suppose they would really have had to dial the timing back(10.5 to 1 comp.), to get that motor to run on todays gas. I'm not sure if your supposed to post stuff like this on this site. I got a buch of 70-72 electronic parts(distributor/regulator/wires/coils/T-3 headlights), you could have them for free if you're really sincere about keeping your car on the road. I'm not into the pre-75's(Cutlass's), I get these parts dirt cheap, often times free because I've bought so much stuff from them over the past three or four years. This ain't no scam, just don't know how to get it to you, I'm never going to use it, I just couldn't see it going to waste, so I bought it, I paid $7.00 for all if it. They don't care/know what a T-3 light is or how much new ones currently sell for(like 40 or 50 dollars each). I though about giving it to someone locally but I think they would just take it and sell it on Ebay or something.

let me try again. next is gonna be flying someone from here down to show me :::rolling eyes::: ughggggggg BRB
