New PCV elbow destroyed after 400 miles

Hey guys, I installed a new rubber PCV elbow on my 76 Cutlass three months ago. I've only driven roughly 400 miles and today I noticed it's completely cracked and split almost half way around. This is the elbow that comes out of the right side of the air cleaner. BTW, I haven't used any cleaner or chemicals on it which would have caused this problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The part I used was Dorman 47039. Is it really just cheap rubber?

Yes, and/or bad batch.

Buy a REAL GM PART if at al possible.

Expensive, but so is a new pc of crap every 400 miles.

Shoot, a good USED GM part would be better than that.

I have had some of the new repop rubber stuff fail within just a few years, too.
BAD quality. Some of the parts I bought was pretty dang costly, too!
I have seen some original rubber parts that are 40 years old and still in good shape.

Same exact thing happened to me. I changed the elbow on the air cleaner and within a year I noticed it had cracked. It was the dorman part, only the best chinese rubber

I searched for an original part...no luck.
