Well after letting the car sit for a little while, 4 or 5 days it would not start this morning, typical of late with this car. Let it go and left for work.
So just went out tonight and with a flash light looked down the front part of carb, hit gas linkage several time NO GAS. NADA. Sprayed starting fluid in it and it fired up. ran well just sitting. Shut it off, hit linkage again NICE stream of gas now in front barrels. Started it back up and checked spark on one wire, it was a nice strong yellow color.

SORRY MDCHANIC for being a ***, I was just frustrated. Do all this work and the car takes 3 steps backwards. I plan to pressure check the cooling system this weekend.

based on recpts I got with car the car was tuned up, everything short of the coil which looks OLD. Seems that is a cheap fix to see if spark is an issue when hot and sitting idle.

The fuel in your float bowl evaporated, and your fuel pump was not able to pull new fuel into the carb as fast as you wanted.

Not unusual.

And not related to your other problems.

Keep at it. You'll get there.

1) Yellow spark is not good. You want a nice blueish/white spark
2) Fuel evaporates in 4-5 days. Not buying that

if the fuel is gone in 4 or 5 days and the Fp can't get gas up there how did folks get cars started in the old days?
The coil look old, they are cheap it can't hurt to throw one one, maybe that will fix my spark color issue.

Went out tonight, before starting (cold) the car I hit the linkage and saw the two streams of gas in the barrels up front. Went ahead and it started, runs.
So when you pump the gas before starting the gas is coming from the bowls? If I am getting no gas it has dried off or the carb is letting it drain out?

Proper procedure in starting a cold engine is to pump the gas pedal once or twice to set the choke and give it that initial squirt of fuel. Then you turn the key without pumping the pedal and the car should start and run at a high idle. When it warms a bit you tap the gas pedal lightly and it releases the high idle linkage and it goes a a step down or all the way to idle depending on engine temp and choke setting.

If you got 2 solid streams of fuel when you operated the throttle linkage with you engine cold, you have fuel in the bowl.

I start it just how you explained. I am old enough to have driven stuff like this in my teens. I love when older folks driving FI cars pump the gas. ha ha ha

My other point was yesterday after the car sat for 4 days, I went and checked for gas by pumping it by hand and looking for gas and saw no streams. I have been told either it evaporated or the carb leaked it out into the intake???

That's correct. Either there is a leak in the fuel bowl or it's evaporating. It cannot siphon back into the fuel line, impossible. I personally disagree with it evaporating in 4-5 days through a 3/8th vent hole.
I know the ethanol enhanced fuels evaporate faster but doubt it's happening that fast. I've had cars sit for weeks/months in this age of ethanol fuels and start immediately.
Simple test is to remove the carb and place it on some sort of stand (threaded bolts and nuts will work) over a paper towel and fill the bowl with like a 1/4 cup of gasoline. Let it sit for a week. If the paper towel doesn't get wet or stained you know it's not a leak.

It should not take a week to figure its leaking or not.

Did a pressure test on the car today, It held pressure just fine. So I took MDchanic advice and tried another rad cap, that was the fix. Sorry man, you were right on that one.
So it fired up ran well then stalled cause it was cold out, has done that before, no biggie, but would not fire back up, had to use starting fluid several times and flooring it to get it running then it was good, warmed up and I drove it to the store to return testing unit. Came home, went to take it back out and got on it a hair and it cut out a few times, bogged out real bad to a stall, put it in neutral while I was moving and gunned it to keep it running and went around the block and took it home. I am at a loss now. It did this "event" again like it has a few times since these issues started when I feel the car was at running temp. So the carb is sick or something else is getting hot and breaking down mimicking a carb that is cutting out.

I know you all have seen me here preach STAY ORIG with my car. I think I am about to throw the hat in on that one. With currents events I think it is time to fix this car up a little so I can trust it.
I don't know if I will try a rebld of my current carb or go new but I am going to ace the points distrib set up.
Any idea's for a good carb that will be the best bolt on?
