Measuring piston to deck

I have a 403 I'm putting 350 heads on, and it has 30 over stock style dish pistons. Where do I measure these for piston to deck height in the dish or around the side?

On the edges, which are the tallest parts of the pistons. Find TDC, then use a dial indicator or put a straight edge across the bore and use a feeler gauge to determine the clearance. Do all 4 corners

Thanks I'm using the feeler gauge method and it measured .020 in the bore. Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right
