Kar-Kit NOX Control System ??
Kar-Kit NOX Control System ??
I'm hoping to do a carb overhaul on my Cutlass this weekend and I' hoping someone knows more than I do about this Kar-Kit thing. When this system was added, did they mess with carburetor jetting or was it strictly with the vacuum advance and the timing?
Also is there any helpful hints anyone can share with me about overhauling the carb . It is a 2bl rochester. Thanks, Any feedback would be appreciated.

The NOx device is a generic name for an early emissions control retrofit required by the state of Calif. on 1966-70 cars. All it does is disable the vacuum advance. The most basic of these is simply a set of vacuum caps and a sticker that goes on the dash instructing the driver to avoid overheating situations.
More sophisticated versions incorporated a temp sensor that actually allowed vac advance if the engine started to overheat. The factory TCS system used on 1970-later cars serves the same purpose. Since you don't live in Calif, take it off.
