Just food for thought

So I have a typical mild built olds 350/turbo 350 combo sitting in an 88 cutlass at the moment. The engine is a fresh build newly broken in about 1k on the engine. Soon enough the body is going to rot out so i'm in the process of looking for another car for the engine and trans. Here's what might be a silly question but are there any trucks I could put this engine and trans combo in with little modification? Has anyone ever heard of a truck with an olds 350 in it? I'm not looking for a 4WD rock crawler by any means but maybe a lowered 2WD sleeper? ehh just a thought.

Yep I think if you use the diesel engine mounts that bolt to the block the engine should drop into a chevy or gmc. Im not 100 on that others can chime in this was discussed not too long ago. I also belive the t/a's with 403's had the same mounts. I wonder if it will drop into an s-10 with those mounts.

the only thing im looking at with an s10 is the firewall and having enough room. I don't have the right stuff to move a fire wall back.

I think the 4.3 v6's dimension wise are the same from the center back it's essentially an sbc with the front cylinders lopped off. Im not sure how much length difference there is between the sbc and sbo front to back but., If anything you should have room to move it forward so all that would take is relocating the bottom mounts.

I don't know about S-10s, which never came with V-8s originally, but the Olds 350 diesel was definitely an option in full-size GM C/K-series trucks in the early eighties, before the introduction of the 6.2L diesel.

A big- or small-block Olds should bolt right in with the right mounts and transmission.

I just welded the 307 frame mounts on my 78. The Olds 307 and 350 were much better than the sbc with 2.76 gears. I used Trans Am mounts, needed spacers, CCC Olds 307 distributor, 454 carb to TBI adapter plus an adapter for the Olds 350 to 4L60E in my 94 Chevy Z71 full size.
