Is this intake still good?
Is this intake still good?
I picked up an Olds 350 for cheap with the intent to sell a few things off of it and then use it in my Cutlass. When I pulled the Holley Street Dominator intake off to sell, I found this:

The guy I purchased the engine from said he had blasted the intake. Looks like he got a little carried away.
I'm wondering if this makes it scrap metal? If not, how much will this impact the value of the intake?

That casting is porous, at least in that area, and probably happened when it was manufactured. No doubt the blasting made it more obvious. It might be porous in other areas too.
Depends on the condition of the manifold in other areas, but the value has taken a hit.

Yeah. I have to fess up though. I had a leaking lower prop shaft seal so I was going to pull it apart and put a new seal in. I found a small crack in the case at the cast mold joint. It was easier to hit it a few times with a hammer to pull the bearing carrier than it was to get a puller. Anyone need a nice set of Alpha 1 Gen 1 gears? (they're actually on eBay right now for $50).

. Welding might be a good option.
