How to raise the oil pressure

I am sure that I read somewhere that you can raise the oil pressure on a stock pump by either changing the pressure relief spring or adding washer to the spring......Does anyone know about this and or where to get the stronger spring

People may argue that you just don't need big oil pressure numbers and only need 10 psi per 1000rpm, they're probably right, but I just don't like to see my gauge reading 15 psi at a hot idle. I have used a 1/4-20 nut more than once to raise the oil pressure. Pull the cotter pin on the oil pump spring and drop in the nut and put the pin back in. You may need to remove some of the edges of the nut to get it to fit. I just did it recently to a 455 and I have 65 psi@2000rpm and well over 30 psi@800rpm.

I redrill the hole for the cotter pin. I move it over about .250 and replace the pin. Works great for me.
