Hole in intake?

Does anyone know why there is a hole in the back of this '72 350 intake manifold? It seems like it would leak oil?
It looks like a factory or well cut hole.

That's not a factory hole. I'll guess that a previous owner wanted to run valve covers without breathers and used this hole for a PVC valve or breather of some kind.

Agreed. Not a bad place for a pcv grommet. Some Cadillac V8's use this location. Seal it or use it for that, or get another intman.

Cool. Thanks guys. I think I'll seal it. Not a lot of pressure in this area right?
