HEI Distributor for 324 Rocket

Good afternoon,

I was looking to see if anybody can help me. I was trying to find a HEI Distributor for 324 Rocket engine. I did get one from Pertronix Performance Products that I was told would work, but it doesn't. Can anybody help me?? Thanks.

Not saying they don't exist, but I have never seen an HEI for your engine.

Why did the Pertronix, not work? Didn't fit or would not start? I thought that year distributor was the same , as a little newer ones? If it was it would not start, try running a full 12 volt to it. They say it will ruin on the resistor wire, but I had to run a 12 volt on a 72 350 years ago, would not run good on the resistor wire.

There is no reason I can think of that a Pertronix kit would not fit in a stock distributor. You say that you bought a complete distributor from Pertronix? Didn't know they had distributors for first generation Old's engines only SBC and VW.... Tedd

Unless it is real recent, Pertronix does not make a distributor for a first generation Olds engine. Nor does anybody else to my knowledge. Pertronix does make a conversion but it is not HEI.

He could probably convert one but he has a horrible infection from a bite from something poisonous on his left hand and is not taking on any new work. In fact he sent back all the distributors he had inhouse for conversion. There are pictures of his left hand on his website. Horrible. It looks like a bite from a brown recluse spider.

Still can't believe no one makes a HEI of some sort for the Gen 1 Rocket. Yeah, Dave's hand looks terrible.

Yikes, I'd guess snake or spider venom. The fiddleback bite starts out as an itchy mosquito looking bite. Then it becomes sore to the touch and looks like a pimple with a black dot in the center. You should already have gone for steroids at this point because that dot will continue to rot to the size of nickel. Or, if left untreated, it can get really ugly. Hope this poor guy heals up okay.

Just curious, Why do you want HEI set up? is this for a performance reason (you gain very little if anything) or you just don't want to change points once every two years or so..... Tedd
