headers swap 455/350

I have Sanderson headers on my 350- my understanding is that 350 and 455 heads can be interchanged-but the header listings show different headers for these engines- anyone with some insight here? thanks, Dave

455 is taller and wider so the headers do not interchange. if you put the 350 headers on the 455 the collector will be pointing to the firewall and if you put the 455 headers on a 350 the headers will be too close to the ground

the sandersons are shortie headers but the exhaust ports are smaller on the smallblock headers...

thanks, I remember now about the port size... as for the other post I'll have to pull a 455 out from under the bench and see how that works, especially if you were to put on the 350 heads, thanks for your help, Dave

I got some old headers that I was told were for a 350. 72 7a heads. Then when I swapped in a 455 with E heads I used the same headers. No problems that I noticed. Did i have 455 headers or small ports on the 455?

damnifiknow- all that counts is they fit. I was just looking through an interchange manual and there are a few stock manifold interchanges but on that you have to remember that the apps. pertain to a perfect fit as far a componant clearances for each particular model- not that they actually fit on the block and then you reroute the exhaust as necessary- in my case I chose the Sandersons' because they are compact and going in a street rod, the center dump making it easier maybe to do the rest of the exhaust system.
