headers for bbo headed 330

So my pops has this 67 w a wicked 330, it runs a really big cam and bb heads.

Yesterday he said over the winter his exhaust rotted a bit too much for his liking so he's looking to upgrade things, and he wants headers. Now I only found a few sets for Oldsmobile's in GENERAL, and none seem to be for a Frankenstein smallie.

Anyone know where to go with this? Or will sb headers bolt up fine?

The difference between BBO and SBO headers is in the deck height. Since your 330 is an SBO, you need SBO headers. The exhaust flanges are the same on BBO and SBO heads.

There are limited and very expensive choices for SBO headers in a 67.

It seems everyone says the SB Olds headers for the 68 up A bodies will NOT fit the 67 Cutlass with the 330. It has been posted that the expensive Kooks Headers can be had for the 67 with 330. I have never tried but I have seen old magazine ads in the 60's that Hooker used to have that listed their SBO Olds header as fitting the 67. I would be curious as to what the problem is in the 68 up Hookers not fitting the 67 Cutlass.

I think in addition to Kooks, American Racing makes a set.

Thornton junior manifolds would work well.

What about the sanderson shorty headers, anyone tried them? Not as good as full length, but better, IMO, and cast manifolds. I had them on an A and G body.

What about buying some cheap headers and modifying them to fit. Used headers for a small block can be bought for under 100. Cut what does not fit buy some foam pipe covers to match the diamter of your tubes and bend to see if it will work. Then grab some thick wire like coat hanger and bend to the desired shape and have an exhaust shop bend the pipe and expand the ends. We used this method to modify a truck header to fit on m friends 54 ford customline . If you can't buy it or afford it make it. Just some food for thought.

Kooks hasn't built Olds headers for quite a while. They sold there tooling to one of the big Olds performance guys, I believe it's Dick Miller.

It is Dick Miller, but I thought it was an exclusive sales agreement (like Mondello and the Harlan Sharp rockers), not a transfer of tooling. I don't know that for sure, however. Given the low sales volume, transferring tooling would actually make more business sense.
