head gasket thickness

I am planning on bolting my heads back onto the block and I have a new set of felpro gaskets. I just stumbled upon a site on the interent that says that victor brand gaskets measure 0.028 inches when compressed and the felpro are 0.038 inches. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? and if so will it lower my 10.25 compression if I use the felpros?

Thank you.

RemFlex Gaskets are thicker and better for heads. They compress to about half their size, and seal very well to provide you with good protection from blowouts with the higher compression that you have. The difference in compression that you are worried about should be very little, and would be out weighed by the protection. Just my opinion based upon reading, research, and testing.

A gasket thickness change from about 0.017" (OEM) to about 0.043" (standard aftermarket) will add about 6cc to your compression chamber volume, assuming a gasket opening diameter of 4.200" (which I used as a standard when working things out for a 350). [gasket thicknesses approximate]

The only CC difference between a factory 9.5:1 engine and a factory 10.25:1 engine is the piston dish: 14cc vs 6cc (an 8cc difference).

You decide.

A very good point Eric.
I made and error in my comment.
I was thinking header gaskets.
The FelPro is good for the head-to-block.
The RemFlex is better for the head-to-exhaust manifold.

I went with the victor brand seems to be good..... i also put headers (ceramic coated flowtecks) which meant a new mini starter, an oil relocation kit, and new motor mounts..... and an edelbrock performer intake... then relocated every piece of wiring (hid them all other than the new lead wires) looks and sounds great......
