head gasket question

I'm doing a complete overhaul on my 69 Olds 350 Rocket. I need 040 head gaskets. Kinda crazy that standard gaskets are $16.99 and the only 040 over head gaskets I can find for this engine are $100.00 Does anyone know who sells these at a decent price? 100 bucks on head gaskets is going to kill me if my wife doesnt first.

FelPro 8171 gaskets are $16 at RockAuto. Don't those have about 0.040" compressed height?

I think he is talking about a .040 over size bore head gasket. I think all he needs is the stock "Fel-Pro" head gasket.
Should measure the bore of the gasket, they should cover what is needed.

AH! Now I understand. I also agree that the FelPro gaskets should have a large enough bore to accommodate even an 0.060" overbore.

I wasnt sure because some on ebay are listed with different bore sizes. If stock ones are the same then thats the best news I've heard all week. Thanks for the replies.
