Green stuff growing on Engine

Guys i got a 1972 olds 350 with some green stuff growing on the water pump and intake but it wipes off with rag wtf is it? also there surface rust on my water pump on one side i will try to get pictures thanks

Where are you located? I know western Washington gets that stuff, I think it is moss.

could be coolant,if seen around gaskets.

its like on the water pump and some spots on the intake and around the valve covers well it does wipe off and my car has been sitting and water just sat in some places but the water pump shouldn't have spots and surface rust ???? i will get pictures tom

Try hitting it with some bleach and then rinse it off.

I had a green stuff around real small antifreeze leaks......Looks like crusty mold but its dried up AF.........Jerr

Thats the one --bleach should do it .Probably an algae -wouldn`t be too concerned until it jumps over and starts growing on you .
