Firing problems

So I got everything together on my Oldsmobile 350 in the Cadillac and now it wont start arg. I am using the stock dizzy from the 307 with the computer but I have nothing hooked up to the computer. I have been told its not going to and just get another dizzy. Will this solve my problem. It is back firing and we tried all positions on the timing with no such luck.

You might have your dizzy 180 deg out! Double check that #1 is at TDC and the rotor is pointing to # 1 on the cap!!

Ah that wouldn't be good I put it in the same position as it came out. I don't see why it would be different. I will give it a shot.

Does this help? You might have put the wires on thinking the rotation of the dist was to the left instead of right? 18436572. If I remember right, some of the other engines distributors rotated clockwise instead of counter clockwise. Worth a shot....

A computer distributer needs hook-up to the computer to run!!
Or at least some kind of power hooked up correctly- no magic there!

The distributor WILL operate in limp-home mode without the computer connected. You'll get a fixed advance curve that provides minimal power. You DO need to have the pink power wire attached to the cap.

Well LOL no luck today. The dizzy they had wasn't an HEI so they tried giving me a HEI one from an Oldsmobile but it wasn't it was for a Chevy motor.
