engine oil dip stick

I just need to know if there are any differences from 70 to 73 dip stick tubes for the olds 350. I was thinking no, but now I'm not sure.

According to Chris Witt's part number database, they should be the same:

"INDICATOR, engine oil level [dipstick] , 20-5/8"" [short type]
Olds 68 (Late) - 73 350 & all small blocks exc. Toronado
Mates Guide Tube #401568 = 14.8"" OAL/9.66"" top part"

I don't think these are available any longer. I bought one several years ago and the dealership had to scour the country to locate just one.

I put a new tube in , but the stick is not reading proporly. The block is from a 73, and I know I have five quarts of oil in it.

What about the oil pan ?
Different design oil pans will show different levels with the same amount of oil .

Kevin, I have this one, I think is for a 350. Part# 25517485-TM.
Let me know if you can use it.

On the 350 in both years, the dipstick tube was 9 5/8" long and the dipstick was 18".

Where is the oil on the stick? I have found my 307's, 350's and 403 took anywhere 4.5 to 4.75 liters, close to same as quarts. This is original tube and stick or aftermarket chrome.
