Engine combo..same ol' question but need help!

Might be the same ol' schtick but trying to figure out the best motor set-up for my 69 "S". I have a 350/TH350 (1800 rpm stall) set-up with hi-way gears for now. Looking to go somewhere around 3.08 to 3.23 ratio. Motor currently has 10.25 pistons....Edelbrock Performer cam/lifters...Edelbrock timing chain and Edelbrock manifold. Some say the compression is too high for this cam (or street use period). Perhaps dropping to 9.0 or 9.5-1 would be better? Also....hearing mixed reviews on the cam. See a lot of favoritism for the Engle cams. Called Mondellos and they were ready to ship me all I wanted even though I explained im still dissecting the whole experiment (called me back like 4 times wondering when I was going to order). I know a lot of this could be personal preference....but any info on what combo would work best would be appreciated. Lastly...just wanted to say good to be hear and read some of the posts. Very interesting!

If I was you I would be talking to whom ever you are going to have build the engine. There is a lot of good info on line but you get some really odd answers from some of the lap-top racers out there. A good engine builder is worth his weight in gold.

Just a side note: If you have "10.25:1" pistons you probably have 9-9.5 compression...don't change a thing, it will be a slug.
