End seals

Should I use them or not use them?? Intake has leaked coolant once already. It wasnt from the end seals but I was wondering how the CO people felt about them. I have a sbo 350 with a performer series edelbrock intake. Any tips or sugestions to help seal my intake the right way would be greatley appreciated.
thanks

Run a thick bead (at least as thick as your pinky) of Ultra flat black RTV along the edges up on to the gasket. The edge seals have been known to be sucked in and fail.

I use my end seals, they are old as heck but still do their job, I just put a dab of the black silicone in the four corners.

If you do go with just using the black silicone, lay your intake on the motor with the Mr. gasket gaskets already applied on the heads with the stuff called gas___ something and use a filler gauge to see how much of a gap you have on both ends and apply the silicone bead about twice the thickness of the gaps so it will spread out and fill the gap without a bunch falling into the lifter valley.

On my engine I use the stock turkey pan as an oil baffle under my intake, I cut all the area around the ports off and left just the tabs on the ends where it pops into the head just below the water ports. I use the Mr. Gasket intake gaskets that are made of something between cardboard and gasket material.

I 'll take a picture tomorrow and post it, my engine is apart, so it's no big deal.

both methods work very well. i have done it both ways. when i was younger i used the gaskets and then later started using RTV only. i never had a problem either way but i do like the RTV better. if you were leaking coolant, just make sure you have RTV around the water ports for the head and intake side of the gasket.

I used RTV but I am not sure I used enough on the intake ends. I might end up doing it again.
