Eddies Performance Motors? Is 7200 to much?
Hey fellas,
So, I talked to this guy today from Eddies Valve Grinding Shop based in New Jersey, and they told me that they have some custom built olds 350 motors that put out about 400 horsepower, although I already know I wont get that due to vehicle weight upon other factors. They have a payment plan that will allow you to pay for it from 1-12 months. The cost of the motor with everything already done to it will cost me 7200 dollars, is this to much? Has anyone ever heard of Eddies Valve Grinding Shop? They claim that it was founded by Eddie Banach Sr. who was a great drag racer or at least it says he was? what do you guys think? They said the engine will bolt on to my 350 tranny, so what do you think? the website is, www.eddiesvalvegrinding.com, keep in mind that I would be putting this in a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham.

Never heard of them.
I would go ELSEWHERE.
You could get that much power from a 350 for 1/2 that.
400 from a 403 would cost half again.
Spend your money.....WISELY.

It still is. This formula works for me: money + time + work = finished product. Where work is the effort put forth by YOU this would probably remain constant with perhaps a small increase over time (experience); so, if you spend less money you have to spend more time or if you spend less time you have to spend more money, both to get the same results in a finished product (your car). Me, I have been on my project now for over two years, get the idea?
wow i feel like i just got blasted through a brick wall. ok. ok. Thanks for knocking me back to my senses guys. I guess I'm getting a little fusturated with my current (350) motor. I went to change the radiator out from a cooling issue, and that was resolved, only to find out that I also have oil leaks on the intake manifold gasket, and the valve covers, and the carb I have the Rochester Qaudrajet, is in the crapper, Im thinking of replacing it with a edelbrock. You guys know anyway of increasing compression?

Remember, Edelbrock advertised the Performer RPM package on a 10:1 350, with #5 heads at 397 hp.
You guys know anyway of increasing compression?

You should have 3A heads on that 350. 75cc chamber, rather bad exhaust port with a 1.500 exhaust valve. An early set of #4,5,6,7,or 7a's will gain some compression, and flow much better.
You would HAVE to open the head bolt holes to 17/32nd's (77 and later engines use a larger 1/2 inch head bolt).
Do this while you have the valve job done.
Your dad's 76 had #8 heads with an even larger chamber. I would look at more than just the heads for your performance increase.

All the above mentioned can be repaired or replaced for well under 500.00

Get down on it and dont stop till its done! Hell, I have had days where i tried out two different intakes and several carbs...
Seriously, get a manual and go to town!

PS, the compression thing. Your gonna need a new motor! LOL
I know this is a 13 year old post but is a Eddies $6,800 turn key Olds 350 still considered way overpriced? Or would anyone have any other suggestions for a built Olds motor? CPautomachine does not seem to be valid website. Thanks
That is probably on the cheap side these days. Mine will be up there, already close talking a 350 hp 358ci with me doing the vast majority of the work, relying on Cutlassefi's expertise. Almost guaranteed in that price is Speedpro pistons, stock rods, N crank(If your lucky) and probably a generic cam with basic iron heads with a good valve job. The cost of everything has gone up and availability is brutal for parts as well.
