Dyno or Synthetic

What is the best to use for our classics? I like synthetic for the rear axle and engine. What about automatic transmissions, power steering pumps and steering boxes?

Synthetic provides better lubrication, but many have experienced increased leakage through old gaskets with synthetic as compared to "regular."

Also, in the engine, the main advantage of synthetic is greater durability, but most owners of older cars change their oil waaaay more often than they should anyway, so this advantage won't help them at all.

That being said, I've never heard anything at all negative said about synthetic in any place other than the engine itself.

I'm interested to hear whatever others may say about synthetic in non-engine locations.

I like Dexron 6 for ATF and have run synthetic power steering and brake fluid without issue.

Synthetic is superior. But be careful when running it in a seasoned component that was born using Dinosaur juice. The Synth will leak where the Dino will not. Wont hurt anything but will be messy. I usually switch over to the Dino after a component has been rebuilt.
