Differences on a 1966 Cutlass non A/C and A/C water pump??

Hi Im in the process of installing factory AC on my 66 Cutlass. I pulled everything except the water pump off the donor car.. I wanted to replace the water pump as Im also putting in a new motor. Is there a difference in the A/C and NON A/C water pump??? I found online two different part numbers. Is there a way to make the non A/C pump work?>????

Andy

Andy, the waterpump will have a longer shaft on the AC application. Your pullys won't line up if you have the wrong water pump on, and I suspect there's a reason for the different pump or Oldsmobile wouldn't have gone to the trouble. Do you still have the donor engine? If so, measure the length of the water pump from where it bolts to the timing cover to the ring where the pully attaches. If your purchasing the replacement pump local take the old one in and match it at the parts store. This has caused more than one headache and a second trip to the parts store for me and I'm sure others too! John
