Christmas Present for the 70 Supreme

Getting ready to pull the motor on the 70 Supreme and get started on the rebuild. Just purchased these for starters:

RRheadsintakeandstrokercrank_zpsd64769a4.jpg

Rocket Racing heads & Intake plus a 3.8" stroke factory steel crank. Keeping the original 350 block. Will probably go with 4.155 bore. That will put the motor at 412 ci. Still need to get pistons & rods. Will have a healthy hyd roller, probably about 10.5 CR to run on pump gas, 750 Ebrock carb (so I can use the EZ TV cable for my 2004R to soften shifts) hoping for around 450 - 475 hp. This will mostly a street car with ice cold ac converted to R134, a high end stereo, lots of sound deadner and mostly stock appearing. Hoping to run a stock breather with the ram air hood so I won't be able to run a spacer under the carb.

Other details on the car:
2004R Trans Extreme Automatics Stage#1 -
Edge 9.5” 2600-2800 converter
Brian Trick 3.90 posi rear, Jegster adj upper & lower control arms, Hotchkis trailing arm braces, Hotchkis 1” rear sway bar, W-27 cover
Summit 380457 3 core alum radiator with trans cooler – stock fan & shroud
#8529 MSD Pro Billet Dist w/Vacuum Adv
#8207 MSD Blaster SS coil
MSD 6AL box
MSD #31363 8.5 mm spark plug wires
Drive shaft loop
Stock rubber 350 motor mounts with tie down rod to frame (via alternator bracket) on drivers side
American Racing 1 3/4" headers, 2.5" exhaust (Xpipe, mufflers, tailpipes, & Olds trumpets)
Factory appearing AC with upgraded compressor (Pro6ten high performance 21 lbs lighter than stock (15lbs vs 36)), & parallel flow 6mm condenser w/6 rectangular tubes (like all new cars) with R134 conversion
15x7 front/15x8 rear all chrome SSIs
245/60/15 front - 275/60/15 BFG RWL tires - (will run 325/50/15 drag radials at track and occasionally on street)
About 3900 lbs with driver

Someone finally put some real stroke to the 330/350 crank.Nice!
As far as the bore goes,I would just do a .030" over. This will leave the cylinders thicker, better ring seal, run cooler, and have more material for a rebore,in the future,if/when needed.I just wouldn't hog the block out as far as it will go,and make it a one-hit-wonder.

Hi Brian. I got these parts from Frank Trimble and he's also building the motor for me. I'm very excited about the build. We still need to figure out the final bore size and then get the rods and pistons. I believe Frank has a few sets of new pistons that may decide which way we go. I'll mention your suggestion but I'd really like the motor to be 400+ ci. I don't like the sound of 399. Maybe a 4.125 bore for a 406?? We'll see.

Yes,a 400+" SBO is nice. The 4.125" bore would be plenty.
I haven't talked with Frank in awhile. I just glanced at his info yesterday in my directory.
Even with the 3.80" stroke, you can still run a nice long SBC rod, like a 6.125" or 6.25",and fill in the blank with the piston. Leave it .010" in the hole, and figure out the dish needed to get your compression where you want it.If the chambers are big enough in those RR heads, you won't need a dish at all, just reliefs.

That is exactly what we had planned. Just need to make a decision on which way to go with the pistons/rods. I moved from Alexandria to Va Beach so I'm a little further away from Frank now but still much closer to him compared to you or Smitty!

BTW - still waiting on the call from Steve that your favorite lime green car is ready for pick up. Hoping everything goes well with the motor/trans and exhaust install and all it needs is a front end alignment. Finger are crossed. Will let you know.
