Carbon build up in my 330

I figured I'd post pics of my 330 that I pulled from my car. I've never seen so much carbon. The car ran rough sometimes and didn't have much power but it would start every time. It did smoke when the throttle was smashed, but after seeing what it looked like on the inside I'm surprised it ran. It seemed to run hot and I can see why. Anyone know what may cause something like this? I could never get the carb adjusted to stop it from running rich. From the look of the heads only 3 cylinders were firing. Also, one rod was bent slightly. I'm not planning to rebuild it, I got another engine I'm doing.
