Carb spacer

What size (height) carb spacer and what type (open, divided or 4-hole) do you recommend?

Using a Edelbrock Performer intake and 4bbl Q-jet carb.

I don't want to sacrifice my low end too much. But would like to see a little more midrange get up and go.

Sorry, I missed the question on the other post, until now.
I would personally go with a 1"- 4 hole on a Q-jet.
Only reason is because there is a centrally located baseplate screw that can sometimes back out, and fall in. With a 4 hole unit, it would catch the screw.

Red Loctite, lock washer, and lightly damage 1-2 threads on this center screw anyway, for safety sake. You don't want to find it embedded in a piston, someday.
There are also a few Holley carbs that will do this.
Remember to get longer bolts, for attaching the Q-jet, and do not over tighten them.
No sillygoo either.
Good luck,
Jim

No problem, thanks for the reply.

I will do some research on 4 hole 1" spacers. Thanks for giving me heads up on the baseplate screw. I did not know that could be a potential issue.

I have the Mr Gasket 1" 4 hole phenolic spacer. Came with all gaskets, longer studs and nuts. I had to put it on what looked like upside down, gaskets on both sides so it does not matter. The butt dyno said it helped but who knows?

That one seems to be the most common and the price is not too bad. There are a couple different brands out there but they want close to $100 for them.

I'll keep looking but I will probably end up with the Mr. Gasket.
