72 Cutlass 'S' 350 Timing Starting Point Question
Hey All,
I've read lots of posts on here about Timing a 350 out of a Cutlass 'S' from 72. But i've been having some trouble timing my own recently.
I have a 1972 Cutlass 'S' with a 350 4bbl Quadrajet. Stock cam and original engine.
Modification that was made before i bought the car was a substitution of the original points distributor for a HEI Distributor out of a '75 Cutlass Supreme. I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil.
I was wondering where a good place is to start with my timing. My Vehicle emmisions control information tag on my car says to disconnect the vaccum advance, and time the engine to 8 Degreeds BTDC. Which i have done, but some articles i've read have said 20 degrees?
Can someone help shed some light on the two?
Thanks in advance all!
