68 Cutlass 350 Pocket Downpipes for Dual Exhaust

Any of you guys know where to get a pair of downpipes for a 68 Cutlass 350 Rocket? I currently have a single exhaust setup and would like to convert over to dual. I just ran into this auction that ended in Sept on ebay but a set went for $42+ship. I would have jumped on that if I had known been looking for a while. I have only had success finding the right side. Any of you guys know? Here is the auction

I am trying to convert over to temp dual on a super low budget so a couple of these + block off plate + 2 mufflers to dump I could probably get done for around 200-250 if my calculations are correct.

Doing some searching it looks like it's the PYPES DOF10S...but they claim it is only for 455 and not 350. The auction says it fit a 350. Anyone know?

Your best bet may be to find an exhaust shop & have it bent. Keep in mind that right now one maifold feeds into the other & then you have one down pipe so you'll need a block off for the pipe that enters the mainfold. You can buy them on ar exhaust shop can make one.

Walker #45358 pass. ex pipe; #45343 pass. tail pipe; #45393 drivers tail pipe. $26 for a block off plate from "The Parts Place".
I used Walker # 17880 2"1/4 IN & 2" Out for mufflers (both sides) from Summit Racing $49.85 delivered for both of them. Quiet but with a nice rumble at idle. That and $150 for the muffler shop to make drivers exhaust pipe and install the works.

Is this the set you got? This is all I've found on those sites and its the same model the a hole on the phone said wont fit a 350. He didn't give me a reason why it wouldn't fit other than the notes they had for it. Did this fit your 350 with no issues? What year? 68 also?

DOF-10S yes these are the pipes I put on my 1968 Cutlass with a 350 Rocket engine. The passenger side is no issue at all the drivers side fits very close to the lower control arm and starter so you do need to play with it a little as to not have it hit when the motor torques. i do not have my car running yet so I don't know if I am going to have any issues with these pipes when stepping on it. I did and recommend you change your motor mounts for new ones to avoid any issues down the road. Good luck.....Todd

I have a complete pypes exhaust system with the downpipes on my 71 cutlass with the 350 engine. I don't know why they would claim the downpipes are only for the 455 engine.

Yep, that sounds just about right. Those guys are total dicks. I won't buy from them again and don't recommend them to anyone anymore since my dealings with them. They don't even know their own damn products!

Good info. This is what I wanted to know. I was concerned about the motor mounts because they are original and sag. Thanks.

Good to know. A lot of companies do that including all the headers. You would think after so many calls and online threads they'd take the extra hour to update all the info accurately. Imagine how much their sales would improve if they advertised it as 350 downpipes.

I posted this last year, another option to consider....
Also, link to a complete set on ebay for under 400.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-1969-Cu...fcb53e&vxp=mtr

(You can get the stock setup online for approx $400 with shipping but it includes the stock style mufflers. I wanted better mufflers so I went the route below.

thepartsplaceinc.com (as well as others) have the block off plate for the passenger crossover pipe opening- (1964 - 1975 Cutlass/442) BLOCK-OFF PLATE -EX2604T

Below is a link for a photo of walker parts. both tailpipes and the right side front pipe are available. I found a local Midas with the bend card to make up the left side front pipe. The muffler hangers are available but the tailpipe hanger is just the rubber portion.
The whole set up will cost (excluding the left side front pipe) around $150 from rock auto. The left side pipe will cost b/t $120 and $150 unless maybe you know someone that can bend it for you.

http://info.rockauto.com/Walker/Deta...2511-11430.jpg

The left side front pipe, muffler and tailpipe are 2 inch. You will need to use the walker connector and reducer(listed below) for the right side as the stock pipe was too short for the super turbo muffler and the tailpipe is 2 inch on the right side as well. You will need at least three 2 1/4" clamps for the right side and two 2 inch clamps for the left side. I would suggest using the heavy duty clamps. I used the super turbo mufflers listed below, they have a nice sound without blasting you out of the car.

WALKER Part # 17732 2 1/4" ID Inlet- Outlet--Dual Offset DYNOMAX SUPER TURBO
WALKER Part # 17736 2" ID Inlet- Outlet--Dual Offset DYNOMAX SUPER TURBO
WALKER Part # 41953 Reducer; Reducer Connector; OD - ID: 2 1/4 to 2 "; Length: 4.5"
WALKER Part # 41956 CONNECTOR; ID - OD: 2 1/4 to 2 1/4"; Length: 12")
