67 C/S 330 camshaft bank angle
Found an old post (june 2017) discusses camshaft bank angle for the 330 engine (39 degrees). It ref a parts book from jan 1972 that said " when replacing the crankshaft on engine with a ""CW""
serial number to replace the flywheel and balancer.
Question- what is the "CW" serial number ref?
Thanks Brian

All 330 V8s used in 1967 "A" body vehicles have the letter "W" in the prefix of the engine serial number (not the vehicle number). Some of these reportedly also have another identifying number in front of the "W" such as "5W" or "8W", etc. I could not find anything specific in the limited literature I have available regarding the "CW" engine serial number except it appears to be only used during the 1967 model year in the "A" body vehicle with 330 engine and Jetaway transmission. Since the parts book states to use a specific flywheel and balancer in this application, perhaps it relates to a crankshaft balance issue; or not!

Towards the end of the 1967 model year, Olds assembled some 330 motors using parts from the 1968 350 design. This is well documented in Dealer Technical Bulletin 67-T-19. That bulletin covered use of 350 block and head castings, not the crank, but I have long suspected that the crankshaft being referred to in the parts book was a cast 1968 style crank. I assume the reason for the note on the flywheel and balancer was due to the use of the 68 crank flange bolt pattern. I'll point out that this is an unverified theory on my part. I do not have documentation to back this up.
