Im switching out transmissions right now and moved my crossmember back, have to reconfigure exhaust a little bit. Supercars unlimited sells a set of manifolds for 350 U.S. Im in Canada that would cost me a small fortune to get over here. (1) Do they fit my car. (2) is there a set of factory manifolds i can try and find. Currently my passenger side is welded up at the crossover pipe outlet. And the driver side pipe goes under the engine and both pipes go under the passenger side of the crossmember. Im driving a 1964 jetstar 88, 2 door hard top, 330 with 200r4.
Dual exhaust was not factory available on the 1964 Jetstar 88 with 330. There are no factory exhaust manifolds that clear the steering box. The Cutlass manifolds sold by Thorntons do not fit. There are no headers for this application. There are no aftermarket manifolds for this application. This is a one-year-only configuration that is not popular to modify.
The 1965-70 Olds full size cars used a special manifold on the driver side that went up and over the steering box so the pipe can be run behind the box. That was used only on the bog block cars. It has been shown that this manifold CAN be used on a small block and JUST barely clears the steering box on the 65-70 cars. The 1964 full size chassis is different from the 65-70 chassis. I do not know if the later dual exhaust manifold will clear in this application. The problem is that the SBO has a 1" shorter deck height, so the exhaust ports and thus the manifold sit one inch lower than in the BBO applications. Your call if you want to spend $300 to buy the manifold and try it. On the passenger side, every SBO manifold has a second port for the crossover. Olds just used a cap on that port for dual exhaust cars - even on the W31s. The cap is reproduced.
Sounds like im sticking with what i have. I had a plymouth that i made custom headers from scratch, however was too much work for what it is.
Unfortunately that's about your best choice. The J88 was intended to be the loss leader for the B-body Olds line. It was not intended to be a performance car - that was the Starfire and Jetstar I.
