55 olds electric fuel pump?

I bought a mr gasket electric fuel pump for my 55 , I have found that its a constant running pump and pushes fuel past my float needles flooding my engine, I installed a fuel regulator even on the lowest setting 1 it does the same thing, I lowered my float levels to see if that would help and nothing, have dual carbs, blocked one fuel line off to front carb and same thing on rear, gas just poring into engine, any tips on a good electric fuel pump for my application that will shut off when pressurised Thanks

Not to sound like an a-hole but if you are going to use a electric fuel pump, use a good one.
I have been running Aeromotive fuel pumps for years on various cars with excellent results. On the Cutlass I installed Edelbrock quiet-flo 1791 factory preset to 6.5 psi, on my 57 Chevy Cameo I have Edelbrock 1792 with a regulator. They have been on for a few years now with no issues and they are quiet. JMO.
