403 stroker build questions
I am rebuilding my 403.
I have a 330 crankshaft and I would like to increase the stroke.
The local engine shops here are not familiar with this. They can turn down the crank to fit a smaller rod journal but I need help with what to buy.
I would be willing to pay someone to make a balance rotating assembly if it was reasonable. So far I got one quote and it's over 5k for just The rotating assembly.
The rest of the build will be with #7 heads, 1910 q jet, performer rpm manifold. I would like to be at 10.5:1 to 10.8:1 so I can run pump gas. I want to switch to a hydraulic roller cam, but first I need to finalize the rotating assembly.
Help would be appreciated.

You need custom pistons and small journal SBC 2" or 1.88" Honda aftermarket connecting rods. Scat makes both in various lengths. I would consider a girdle, custom pistons and rods are lighter but the crank is heavier.

I may be of some help. I have a welded, stroked 330 crank for sale. It's a 3.750 stroke. That, custom pistons and a full roller cam setup will run you less than 3k. Let me know if you're interested.

I would think the 5 main will be plenty. I am doing the same on my 424 stroker. I picked up the rotating assembly used and I am picking up big valve #6 heads for it today. Unfortunately the local shop is super busy and money is tight to get it done this year. I am planning on 9.6 to 1 with a healthy cam. Unless you are going E85 or race gas only, 10.5 is way to much on iron heads. Plus they will be limiting for power compared to Procomp or Edelbrock heads. Mark is great to deal with and also can get you Procomp or Edelbrock heads from stock to full race.

Update
Project Update
I got the Engine built and assembled 2 years ago but then I got delayed because the car promptly was in an accident. And then Life got complicated.
Now that the car is on the road again I wanted to post an update and a review of what mark sold me. I am happy with the setup. Now that I am back up and running the T/A is very fun to drive
Mark was a great help with the project.
Mark sold me this setup.
· Balanced rotating assembly ( includes welded 3.75" steel crank, Scat I beam 6.125" Rods, Race-Tec custom pistons and Moly rings, balancer and flexplate) {New)
· Custom Hyd Roller cam and lifters
· Pro Comp heads cut to 62cc
The final set up is a 1979 Trans Am. this 403 build was topped with a perfomer RPM intake and 1910 performer rpm q jet. I am running a Pertronix HEI distributor with multi spark module. The transmission is a 700r4 and the gear ration is 3:73 with the stock 15” rims and 27 x 10.5 Hoosier radials.
.
Here is the Engine dyno sheet.
Mark I have another 403 block so I would be interested in your 4” crank and possibly an EFI setup

Very very nice! You should be proud of your accomplishment here. This makes it all worthwhile.
You'll need at least a halo, maybe even a pan rail girdle if you do my 4.00” Stroker. It’ll make 550+ by accident.
Let me know when you’re ready. Again nice job!!!!

Pictures
Here are a few pictures from a few years ago from the street machine nationals in Saint Paul. We are early it was packed within an hour. I have more pictures of the T/A and the engine in my albums.

That kicks ***! Look at Dan's 478 403 with Mark's crank. I am finally sending in my 403 block for the 424 stroker, I will be happy with one hundred less on hp and torque over your build. The 2004R and 3.90 gears will make up for less power. Again, great build with awesome numbers. I saw you went roller cam, curious on the specs and your compression ratio? Mark gave me a great deal on nearly new roller lifters, so he will do a roller cam for me, which should help with iron #6 heads with bigger valves.

The car has not been to a track. It’s just a fun driver. Since I like the stock 15” rims and brushed trim rings I am limited in tire options. I have found these to be expensive but way better than my other options for abuse and hard driving

[QUOTE=cutlassefi;1269034]Then you need to venture out more.
It’s coming along. I’ll make sure I get pictures and such just for you![/Q
I look forward too seeing them. How did you set the ventilation up?
