403 rebuilding advice
403 rebuilding advice
will be rebuilding a 1979 olds 403 soon and need a good source for a ring and bearing kit and also a gasket kit.
while im here might as well also ask what you guys would recommend as a cam for my build.
here are the specs:
1979 403 that will be rebuilt to stock specs
#2 330 heads mildly ported with 403 intake valves(64cc chamber)
compression should be around 9.5:1
edelbrock ol4b intake
600 cfm carb
flamethrower hei igintion kit by pertronix
rear end gear will be either 3.23 or 3.42 posi and might put in a mild stall say 1900-2100rpm if i find a good deal.
i was looking at the high energy 252 by comp cams(206dur.@ .50),basiclly looking for a reliable car with lots of torque that can drive for 100-200km at a time with out worrying about it to much.
the engine is gona be installed in a 1979 4 door nova.
please give me a few leads on some good kits and your views on a good cam.
thank you in advance and sorry about the chevy car but its a gm with olds power!

There are lots of sources here for good parts. Just do your homework and you'll get some quality parts for a reasonable amount of money.
When you're ready for a cam I have the perfect one for you. It's an Erson grind, an MP1, 208/214, great torque and overall driveability. I may be able to help on other stuff too.
Best of luck, glad to see someone putiing an Olds into a Chevy instead of the other way around!
