I am not sure about a book but I do know back in the day there were articles in the popular car magazines giving tips on building a hot 394 engine. There were also speed parts available. Right now I would say the 394 is an engine like all others and would respond just like the rest to higher compression, cam change, cylinder head work and the like and a book on the 394 would not be needed. Any performance parts would be obsolete and would most likely have to be custom made so cost would be an issue. Offy still makes performance intakes for the 394.
