350 upgrades
A good timing curve. Maybe a stall converter for the trans the tci Saturday nigh special is a good choice imo. And forsure a rear gear swap if is lower than a 3.23. I would suggest a 3.42 for nice cruising at lower rpms . Some exhaust work a nice x pipe system and headers if you so chose to do so.

I liked the 3.42 when I had it but if you already have a 3.08 on a rebuilt engine I think some fine tuning will get you to smoke those tires from a stand still. I don't mind the 3.73 but at highway speeds you will be higher rpms.
The thing is you cant over gear a stock engine eventually you will run out of steam and the engine will be useless at certain rpm. For example I put a 307 in my 72 while I rebuilt my current 355. Now a 307 is nothing special. But I put all the running gear from my previous 350 on it., so the 650 holley double pumper, headers, xpipe exhaust, I bumped up the timing and I had a 2300 stall onverter and that litte 307 would smoke the tires with ease but in 3rd gear it was out of steam around 3800 rpm. I think on a stock engine 3.73 is about as high as you wanna go imo but that 3.73 gear will also work with a performance engine . A rear gear swap will be the biggest bang for the buck mod you will feel off the line. Unless you do some engine work. If you carefully pick items to pep your car up now and plan accordingly you can re use those parts down the road., then once you build a high perf. engine you will have a rear gear that will work with the cam for that hot engine and maybe a converter if you decide to go that route too.

I have a new edelbrock 3711 intake never used and new in box hooker super comp headers that ill make u a great deal on. Also have Holley 650 DP that needs to be rebuilt. Gaskets, fuel line, filter and new bolts would be included.
There are ways to mathematically determine the proper gear ratios when changing wheel sizes. If need be, I could post a dialog on how to figure it .

It's the final tire diameter that matters, not wheel size. Think about how much highway driving you will do. With a 3.42 I run about 3000rpm at 65-70 (I have both 225/70/14's and 275/60/15's).
Also, I don't think you gave much info on the rebuild other than "stock" which can mean a lot of things. 2bbl or 4bbl? single or dual exhaust? May not know since done before you got it, but cam and compression ratio? Also assuming you have a TH350 trans.
4bbl, duals (headers optional), shift kit and a 3.42 rear end will make for a peppy 350 street car. Pretty much described my set up. Sky is the limit after that, along with the $$$ that go with it.

When I said wheel size I meant the diameter of the of the tire and wheel combination.
Changing 14 to 15 inch tires / wheels will probably not make too much difference.
Changing up to 18 or 20 inch wheels and tires will DEFINATELY require a change of rear end gears to make things right

I heard that regular exhaust manifold were "ok" to keep.....but definitely something optional
